We have been hard at work since our last posts. We are working on writing our new record and prepping for more shows coming up this month. The first of those dates will be September 16th at the Silverlake Lounge with our friends So Many Wizards. Check the tour page for more info and check back often as we will be adding more dates soon. So we are home from our California tour and we want to thank all the awesome people that came out to see us and the folks that put us up along the way. We had a great time and can't wait to come back and see you all again. In other news check out Future Sounds who played us on their radio show this week. Just a quick update. The City Hums was played on Indie 103 in LA this weekend which is pretty exciting. If you would like to request it click here (if you do it a member of the band will sleep with you...for reals). We have also added a date in Berkeley, CA on the 27th so if you're in the bay area be sure to come by. That's all for now.

Hello. So the new record, the IM EP, is out. You can get from Amoeba Hollywood in the "music we like" section or at our shows. It will be available in more stores and online soon. We are in the bay area at the moment rehearsing in preparation for some dates at the end of July, the first of which will be July 25th at Rerax. See the tour page for more info. We have also started working on our next EP which we will be updating you on as it develops. We will be playing some new tracks from that at the dates in July. Check back soon for more info. The new record is officially done and will be in stores in the coming weeks. We will keep you updated on where you can find it and will also post info soon on how you can order one directly from us. For now you can listen to six of the seven tracks on our myspace. The record also features a cover of a song from our last record by Daniel which we added as a bonus track. In other news we are booking a tour for the end of July with our friends in Rough Cuts. Keep an eye out for more news about the record and tour dates soon.

So you may have noticed that we have been MIA for a bit. You may also have noticed that we are back! We are putting the final touches on our new record the IM EP and expect to release it at the end of the month. The EP will feature 5 all new tracks in addition to a remix done by our good friend RC Versace. We are also prepping a new live set which we hope to debut in the very near future. To accompany all this newness we also redesigned the site. Yay!!! You can hear some tracks from the new record right now on myspace and we will be adding more very very soon. Also be sure to check out the media section to see some new pics that were taken by our good friend Ian Rios during the making of the IM EP. Check back soon for more news!!!

Happy New Year!!!! We are happy to report that recording has begun on the new record and things are going great. We are working on a bunch of new songs and trying a lot of new things. It feels like we just updated this page a couple days ago but somehow it's actually been an entire month. Time flies when you're having fun I suppose. We are getting very close to recording and everyone involved is getting really excited. Recording this EP is going to be like Christmas. I can't wait. Speaking of which we will be posting a little gift from us to you. Look for it here in the next week or so. Just something that we have been working on in preparation for the new record that we thought might be kind of fun to share. That's it for now. over and out.

Hola. So we've been slacking on the updates but I assure you we are still going strong. We are gearing up for recording and the writing sessions have been going great. We took a quick break from writing sessions in LA a week ago to play an impromptu set at the treehouse in Los Angeles. Thanks so much to everyone that came out and to the treehousers for their hospitality. We played a bunch of new stuff that will be appearing on the next record. It was great to finally get those songs out to some people. Stay tuned for some pics from that set and more updates on recording and shows soon.

Hello. Here's what's up. We are working our butts off on this new record. Things are moving along nicely. Lots of experimentation in preparation for studio sessions. We are anxious to share what we are doing with you but we are determined to take our time and make sure it's everything we want it to be. In the mean time The Whale EP is chugging along. Check out this very flattering review at lipstick communism. Here's a snippet:
"Highly textured and deeply diverse, Intricate Machines wavers between and weaves in elements of jazz, rock, and electronic music masterfully. Just got back from a pretty intense four day writing session in SF. We have all been working on things separately and spent the weekend sharing ideas and planning out the new record. There are quite a few new tracks being worked on and we are really excited about the direction this record is heading. We are currently combing through the hours of recordings we made this weekend and will probably post some of the more interesting tidbits on myspace just in case you want to see where we're going. We should be playing some dates in the coming months too so keep an eye out for us.

So we told you a while ago that we released our first record and we thought we would give you a quick update. First of all if you don't have it yet there are a couple ways to get it. You can get it directly through us at shows or by showing up at our houses in the middle of the night. You can also go to one of the following stores:
Amoeba Records, Hollywood (6400 Sunset Blvd. Hollywood, CA)
Fingerprints Records (4612 E. 2nd St. Long Beach, CA)
Rudy's Barbershop, Santa Monica (3101 Main St. Santa Monica, CA)
At Amoeba the record can be found in the "music we like" section. Here's what Amoeba says:
"Delicate precise instrumentation and melodicism abound on this deeply textured musical expression. It sorta combines the elegant song sense of Bends-era Radiohead with the more accessible rhythmic diversions of King Crimson. Yes. You'll play it once and enjoy it more the second time and beyond."
The record is $5.00 bucks no matter where you go, so if you don't have it yet, get out there and pick it up.

Wow. What an incredible weekend we had. Thanks to everyone who came out to our shows especially those of you that made it to both! We also want to thank Tim from The Hard to Get for playing drums with us. Be sure to check his band out because they rock. Aside from some great gigs we also snuck in some studio time while we were in SF. We recorded some pre-production demos for our next record and discussed our plan of action with our producer Chris Mayrena. Very exciting stuff. Studio time is being scheduled and songs are being finished so be sure to check back for more record related news. We will also be bringing this new material to the stage some time in September so keep an eye out for more dates.

Sorry for the recent lack of updates. We have been hard at work on a couple of fronts. As of next week we will finally have real CDs of "The Whale EP." We made them on our own and we are really excited about them. You can get them from us for $5 and soon from Amoeba. Just a couple of quick updates. We are officially filming our first video tomorrow with our good friend Ian Rios. Ian is an amazing photographer who has been kind enough to shoot all of our shows. We are really excited and can't wait to share the results with you. Also, people have been asking us why we used a flickr account for our photos instead of just hosting them ourselves and we would like to assure you that there is a reason. We really like the sense of community that flickr provides and we wanted to make it easy for anyone with photos of us to share them. That being said, if you have some cool intricate machines related photos that you want to contribute please email us and we will either get them from you or give you our flickr login info (if we trust you). We will credit you too.Yay! Thanks.

Thanks to everyone that made it out to Monument 872 last night. We had so much fun and it was amazing to play on the bank of the LA river with the downtown skyline as a backdrop. Photos will be up soon. We are in the process of planning more dates soon in northern and southern california so keep an eye out for those. Welcome to our new site!!! We are really excited to finally have it up. We promise to update frequently so be sure to visit often. The launch of this site coincides with the release of our first EP, "The Whale EP." The EP will be available through us and in a few special stores. We will update you on how to get it soon. You can listen to the tracks on the media page right now! We are also playing tonight at Monument 872, an amazing collaboration between media artists, film makers and musicians. This could be one of the coolest things we have ever been a part of so you should check it out. See you there.
